'It is a truth universally acknowledged that...' to indulge oneself occasionally is a perfectly proper thing to do.

Denman College, a Georgian house set in acres of beautiful gardens in Oxfordshire allows you to do just that. The setting of the house with its lake, gardens and general air of gentility lends itself to the subject of Jane Austen, her books and the period in which she lived.

Your en-suite room can be either in the house or in one of the several two-storey blocks which are set in the grounds. All are individual in style, comfortably furnished and maintained by one particular county, whose name the room bears. Meals are taken in the refectory style dining room, where the food is good and plentiful; with the added pleasure of the company of students not only from your own course. The bar provides a popular place to meet old and new friends before dinner.

No qualifications are needed to attend these courses- other than an obvious passion for the books of Miss Austen - you can come from Tyne & Wear or Cornwall, have left school at fourteen or been a headmistress - what binds students is the equality of pleasure to be found in joining with other like-minded ladies, who are willing and able to exchange views and impart knowledge and by doing so  rejoice at having been part of such a group.

Thank you for making me feel part of your class at Denman. I loved your course and how you made all of Jane's characters come alive. Hopefully I can return and be part of more of your programs. Thank you to the whole group for the lovely Denman cup and pin. I will think of you all, and Denman, when I drink my coffee/tea. Cheers to all my new friends.
