Denman College is the WI's own Residential Adult Education College near Oxford. Sir Walter Elliot's House is a Regency town house directly opposite Sydney Gardens, a level walk from the centre of Bath. It provides accommodation whether or not you are participating in the Jane Austen in Bath courses. Other interesting and useful links: Chawton House Library is a charity with a unique collection of books focusing on women's writing in English from 1600 to 1830. There are Jane Austen Societies across the world including the United Kingdom , North America , Australia and Japan The Jane Austen Project is a group, founded in October 2009, for enthusiasts and scholars of Jane Austen's world, in Oxford and beyond. Jane Austen Centre at 40, Gay Street, Bath is a permanent exhibition which tells the story of Jane's time in the city Jane Austen's Regency Magazine is the official magazine of the Jane Austen Centre. It has articles that cover a broad range of topics related to Jane Austen and her time. Jane Austen's House Museum, Chawton where Jane Austen spent the last eight years of her life. Hampshire County Council have a whole section of their website devoted to places connected with Jane Austen. St Mary's Hall, Alton - bed and breakfast in a beautifully converted church hall on a quiet road on the west (Chawton) side of Alton, about a 20 minute walk from Chawton Cottage. It is very welcoming and comfortable and I have stayed there several times. |
